Hands Along the Water' organized rallies called 'We Won't Be Silent' in Florida and on the Suncoast this past weekend. They were rallying in hopes of environmental change. Six "We Won't Be Silent" rallies were designed to remind people that the impact of harmful algae blooms from the summer has not ended.

They were also meant to remind recently elected local and state officials that they are expected to follow through on campaign promises to fix issues that have polluted Lake Okeechobee and to improve the quality of stormwater before it flows back into the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to the Bypass in Venice, other rallies took place on the Suncoast at Sarasota's Bayfront Park, Retta Esplanade in Punta Gorda, and at the Palma Sola Causeway Park in Manatee County.
