Manatee County to add movie theater and hotel
MANATEE COUNTY - Despite traffic concerns near Ellenton mall, Manatee County decides the show must go on!
Thursday, the Manatee County Commission voted 5-1 to approve a movie theater and hotel near the Ellenton Premium Outlets.
Commissioner Carol Whitmore said many young adults moving into the North County area want a movie theater and that the closest one is in Bradenton.
A representative for Jiten Patel, the new owner of the 7.3 acres site, said the county is planning $10 million in road improvements in the vicinity, along with the Florida Department of Transportation's plan to add capacity at the nearby interchange of 301 and I-75.
Commissioners noted that hotel guests will be within walking distance of the mall, a hockey arena, restaurants and other retail.
