Suspect in theft, attack on K9 deputy sought
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who evaded capture over this past weekend.
37–yr–old Matthew Christopher Johnson, of Port Charlotte, was detained on Friday, November 2nd, by deputies during an investigation into a retail theft that occurred at the 7–11 in Port Charlotte on Tamiami Trail.
Johnson fled from deputies during the ensuing investigation, and later attempted to drown the K9 patrol dog that tracked him down. Johnson had yet to be located as of Wednesday morning, and deputies are asking for anyone who may have information on him, or his whereabouts, to call the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.
