Deputies looking for driver after deadly hit-and-run in Bradenton
BRADENTON - A crash in Bradenton leaves one man dead after authorities say a driver struck a pedestrian and left the scene Saturday night.
It happened at the intersection of 301 Boulevard East and 41st Avenue East just before 9 P.M.
Troopers say Tomas Xon-Gurcas was walking across 301 when he entered the westbound lane and was hit by a black, 2006-2008 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
Though a witness gave chase, the driver of the pickup used several side streets to get away. Witnesses were only able to provide a description of the vehicle but not the tag number.
Xon-Gurcas was taken to Blake Medical Center, where he later died.
Anyone with information about this crash, or the identity of any drivers and/or vehicles involved, is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (239) 938-1800.
