SARASOTA – When you win as a team, individual recognition soon follows. Recognition, like being named 1st team All–State.

That’s what Booker High School’s Johnnie Williams IV achieved after the basketball team’s Final Four run this past season. Williams was named to the State 6A First Team as acknowledged by the Florida Association of Basketball coaches.

Williams averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. He was part of a core group of players that were instrumental in a 29–3 season that culminated in the state semifinal game in Lakeland.

Just a junior, he was a joy to watch because he always played hard, but he smiled while he was doing it.
