SARASOTA – The Riverview Rams are in their first spring football session under Head Coach Josh Smithers.

Smithers took over just before last season started, so this is his first spring as the head coach, and after a big year with an 11–2 record, 6–0 in the district, a #3 State 8A ranking that ended with a loss in the regional Finals, they have to add to their core guys but also replace some huge stars. Literally and figuratively huge.

“We are just trying to get the basics during the spring. We are keeping things very simple as we implement our base offense, base defense, and special teams”, explained Josh Smithers, 2nd year head coach of the Rams. “We lost some guys that we have to replace like Arthur Brantley, Jamar Johnson, Moose Griffith and Brantley Seadrow, so we are looking to find some young guys. We do have some good players returning that we know what we are getting like Ali Boyce and Pudah(Michael) Hayes, but we have to find other guys to pick up the pieces. We are just trying to put everything together right now.”

The Rams play their spring game in Port Charlotte against the Pirates on May 18th.
