BRADENTON – From tomato fields to a sprawling sports utopia. Since those humble beginnings, IMG has grown into a training site that offers almost everything, except for a hotel. Now, it can offer that, too.

The Legacy Hotel at IMG Academy held a sneak preview Tuesday in advance of its October 11th opening. The opening dovetails with the beginning of Parents Week.

The 150 room hotel is part of IMG Academy’s 600 – acre campus, but separate enough to have a liquor license so it can serve alcohol at its lounge, and a dining room which can seat up to 300 people.

It will benefit the people who flock to IMG like professional athletes, Olympic athletes, and others who benefit from cutting – edge technology and coaching.

Tennis guru Nick Bolletieri started what became IMG at the Colony Resort. In 1978, it moved to a location in Bradenton that used to be acres of tomato fields, but is now a sprawling campus.
