Fatal vehicle accident in Charlotte County claims the life of one man
CHARLOTTE COUNTY – One man dies Wednesday night after a two vehicle crash in Charlotte County.
Florida Highway Patrol says it happened just after 6 P.M. at the intersection of Burnt Store Road and Alcatraz Drive.
Melissa Martinez drove a Jetta southbound on Burnt Store Road with a passenger 63-year-old Clyde Hancock.
Michael Ferrall travelled in a van northbound on Burnt Store Road.
The Jetta went to make a left turn onto Alcatraz Drive and collided with the van heading northbound.
Both vehicles ended up on the shoulder of Burnt Store Road and Clyde Hancock of Punta Gorda died as a result.
An ambulance took Martinez to Lee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries while Ferrall went to Bayfront Punta Gorda.
Investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
