Next-generation facial fillers come to the Suncoast
SARASOTA – Having laugh lines means a life filled with joy and good memories, but do we really need the wrinkles to prove it?
SkinSmart Dermatology is bringing a new treatment to the Suncoast: the next-generation facial fillers.
Dermatologist Elizabeth Callahan has been using facial fillers for 12 years, but these are different.
“February of this year, Restylane Refyne and Restylan Defyne were FDA approved,” says Callahan. “What makes them different from all the other fillers on the market is that they have something called expression technology.” Which allows for more natural movement in the face.
“I love this filler in areas that move, smile lines, folds,” says Callahan. The procedure only takes about five minutes.
Patient Kim Hrkach says it’s no big deal. “Well I didn’t feel a thing,” she says.
“We apply topical numbing, we allow the skin to become completely numb, and then we take a very, very small needle and we inject filler just very superficially into the skin in the areas of the wrinkles,” says Callahan. “The filler is made of hyaluronic acid, which is based on a natural ingredient in your skin.”
Callahan says it’s a natural ingredient for a natural look. “We’re just trying to soften shadows and folds and make you look like a better version of yourself, we’re not trying to change anything,” she says.
“It looks very natural and has smoothed out the areas of my face,” says Hrkach.
The results are immediate, but if you want them to last you’ll need to book an annual visit. “The filler itself only lasts for 9 months, you definitely get some permanent collagen growth your wrinkles are never as bad as when we started,” says Callahan.
