SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County is still trying to figure out what to do with land near the Celery Fields, and the best way to sell it. The Sarasota County Commission on Wednesday examined some of the best uses for that land, rather than immediately rezoning it.
The commission considered zoning the parcel from open use–rural to industrial. The board could agree to indoor industrial, affordable housing or maybe even a recreation center.
According to the Lambert analysis, the best use for the property is industrial, and net the county the most money from a sale. Office use was listed but there is not a big demand right now.
The land has been assessed at $1.3 million.
