Blown transformer cancels Manatee School Board meeting

MANATEE COUNTY-A blown transformer forced the cancellation of the Manatee County School Board meeting last night.

Power was knocked out at the Manatee County School Board offices yesterday so the meeting and a workshop had to be nixed.

Also, an air conditioning problem caused a portion of the third floor to fill with smoke, and fire crews responded to the building at 7 a.m.

The building was closed to all employees on Tuesday, but the district hoped power would be restored so the facility could reopen today .

The School Board has not announced when the meeting will be rescheduled.
