SARASOTA COUNTY – With hurricane Michael expected to make landfall on the pan handle tomorrow afternoon Florida Power and Light if needed will send help there.
The utility trucks are ready and FPL says they will take care of their customers first from any storm damage.
They have drilling equipment on standby for fallen poles along with overhead wires and transformers.
FPL spokesperson Jose Labrador says they sent crews up to the Carolinas to help restore service from hurricane Florence.
If outside help is warranted crews and contractors are sent to specific mobilizing staging sites while responding to the needs of the areas impacted.
Jose says it’s a blessing to reach out to help those severely affected by these natural disasters.
“There is a sense of joy when we’re able to return in kind the kindness that many of these crews like themselves who leave families behind put themselves in harm’s way and fire retardant materials up in the sun making sure that their lights are coming back on. I can safely say that our crews as well as our company considers it a privilege to be able to help our brothers and sisters our neighbors in need in times such as these.”
FPL urges residents to be over prepared for the storm.
