BRADENTON- A fight outside of a Bradenton bar Sunday morning left 4 injured and one dead. As Manatee County deputies investigate, no suspects have yet been identified.

Randy Warren, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer said, “Sheriff’s office received a call at 12:30 that there had been a shooting with possible multiple victims at the Tommy Knockers Saloon on 14th Street West. When we arrived, we found one person was down, serious injuries.”

Investigators identified him as 39–year–old Gabriel Conte, who was pronounced dead on scene.

“It appears that Conte was at the bar with some friends and a group of Hispanic males entered the bar,” Warren said.

“While on scene, we found that there were other people who had also been shot, 3 others victims,” Warren said.

Investigators said the groups began arguing inside and it escalated outside.

“While on scene, we found that there were other people who had also been shot, 3 others victims,” Warren said.

One victim, Robert Wright, a bystander noticed tension rising inside.

“They were taking off jewelry and necklaces. I told my wife, ‘let’s go’,” he said.

Wright hid behind his truck in the parking lot as the fight broke out.

“My leg was sticking out. And as the bullets were flying, they ricocheted off of something, hit through my leg,” Wright said.

Mark Rosato, owner of Tommy Knockers said it was gut–wrenching call to receive from deputies.

“My heart dropped. I always hate to hear any time anyone gets hurt,” Rosato said.

He said the decade-old saloon never experienced anything like this incident.

“We’re known as a safe, local neighborhood bar. As you can see, we have two cameras that are right here, facing the parking lot,” he said pointing at the bar’s front door, “So law enforcement was here all night looking at the cameras and they have the footage.”

Rosato said he hopes video evidence will help deputies locate suspects. “I’m very very sorry to the family and my condolences.”

Witnesses told deputies the male who was shooting fled in a white 4-door vehicle, possibly a Chevy Impala.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
