SARASOTA – Sarasota School Board Chairwoman Bridget Ziegler is now saying she wants to meet about school security.
Ziegler credits a conversation with Andrew Pollock who is the parent of a student who was a victim of the Parkland shooting.
“Talked a lot about that and I think it comes down to you cant communicate enough and make sure we’re all on the same page if you look at what went wrong in Parkland. A lot of it was a miscommunication between agencies,” said Ziegler.
With the creation of an internal police force, Ziegler wants the role of local law enforcement to be clear…
“After speaking to many of the chiefs of police and the sheriff himself, and they want to help they want to find a way. That’s their role. They’re law enforcement. They personally want us to focus on education and partner with the subject matter experts to keep our schools safe,” said Ziegler.
Ziegler says the meeting is scheduled for June 12 and includes Law Enforcement, School District overall, and of course the public .
