SARASOTA – A tropical storm warning has been issued for the west coast of the Florida peninsula from Bonita Beach to the Anclote River.
In its 5 P.M. advisory on Alberto, the National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning for the west coast of the Florida peninsula from Vonita Beach to the Anclote River in Pinellas County.
The warning covers coastal areas of Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota counties. All of Pinellas County is under the warning.
Wind gusts of 40-50 miles per hour are expected beginning late Saturday night through Monday night. Residents are urged to secure loose items and clear yard debris. In addition, residents should avoid Gulf waters, as a Small Craft Advisory is in effect until further notice.
Subtropical storm Alberto is expected to produce 6-8 inches of rainfall across the Suncoast. All areas are under a flood watch until Monday evening.
