SARASOTA – A Sarasota man is facing multiple felony charges after the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says he pulled a butcher knife on deputies.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 37-year-old Benjamin Black after deputies were tipped to a home burglary in progress Friday at the 2900 block of Hawthorne St. in Sarasota.
Deputies stopped Black as he was walking past the victim’s home. He allegedly pulled an eight-inch butcher knife from underneath his shirt. As deputies attempted to take Black into custody, he tried to remove one of their guns.
Black is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, burglary and weapons charges.
