SARASOTA — The Symetra Tour is all about rising stars in women’s golf. Not many are gaining steam faster right now then Daniela Darquea.

The rookie hailing from Quito, Ecuador enters the Sara Bay Classic third on the money list. She already has a victory this season coming at the IOA championship in Beaumont, California less than a month ago, becoming the first women’s golfer from Ecuador to win a professional golf event. Last week competed in her second LPGA event, the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii.

The University of Miami product’s first came as a result of success in Florida too. In 2015, Darquea won a U.s. Open qualifier at Bradenton Country Club, earning a spot in the U.S. Women’s Open.

Keep your eye open for other rising rookies this week like American Lindsey Weaver (7th in standings), China’s Ruixin Liu (11th) and others out at Sara Bay Country Club.

Having been born right next to One Buc Place, the home of his favorite pro football team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, being around sports has always been a passion of his. Trevor played high school football in Wesley Chapel, Florida and a year in college at Webber International University in central Florida before transferring to Florida State University for the remainder of his college tenure. He spent a semester appearing on Seminole Sports Magazine, a show on FOX’s Sun Sports that allowed him to report on FSU Athletics.
