SARASOTA- Tamiami Trail commuters may have noticed fire crews on 10th street near the Centennial Park boat ramp.

Around 5:15 a.m. units arrived on scene and found a 31 foot, Stamas Tarpon boat fully engulfed in flames.

According to Sarasota County Fire EMS Fire Chief, it took about 15 minutes to put out the flames.

The owner/owners of the boat were not present during the incident but were notified of the fire.

It’s standard procedure for the State Fire Marshall to take over an investigation when the Sarasota Fire Department cannot immediately determine the cause of the fire and there is property loss.

The cause still remains under investigation.
