Well you can say farewell to the current Venice Public Library.
Demolition began today on the library and it will be replaced by a new upgraded one on the same site.
According to the Sarasota County Director of Libraries and Historical Resources Sara Beth Kalajian the facility had enviromental conditions that were unsafe and the age of the building was a factor for new construction.
Features for the new library will include more public access computers, enhanced children’s area, larger collection of books and more.
The community of Venice is in full approval of this new library.
“Folks thought this was a great place for a library from the very beginning. It’s a neighbor to the art center, to the community center, and to the historical archives. They call it the cultural campus, so it’s a perfect location, said Kalajian.”
