Group of Suncoast kids get ready to start their engines

SARASOTA – Twelve-year-old Oula Winder and her younger sister 11-year-old Kia, test drive their new wheels. They spend about six weeks making sure the tires had enough traction to drive through the obstacle course and learning how to maneuver the car.

“We finally came up with something we both like, team panda” says Winder.

Mother of team Panda members, Mira Winder, says she couldn’t be prouder of her two daughters.

“It was an amazing experience for them, they learned that they could take their ideas and make them into something solid and real,” adds Winder.

Their mother says, this project is giving these home schooled girls a chance to put all their academic knowledge to use.

The remote control custom race starts tomorrow at 9:30 am at the Suncoast Science Center with 60 teams competing. The event is free and open to the public.
